THE JOURNEY OF EIC COMMUNITIES: COLLABORATION, PROGRESS, AND STORIES UNFOLDED

As the EIC Communities project comes to an end, it’s the perfect moment to reflect not only on the innovations and breakthroughs in deep tech across health, cleantech, and industry, but also on the human stories behind them.

Over the past years, we have had the privilege of sharing stories that reveal what usually remains hidden: the challenges, the moments of doubt, the difficult proposal-writing processes, and the perseverance that turns ideas into reality.

These stories have shown that the journey of innovation is never just about technology. It is about people coming together, navigating obstacles, and building connections that make ambitious visions possible. The act of storytelling itself became a key part of this journey: giving voice to the individuals behind the projects, acknowledging their struggles, and celebrating their successes. It highlighted that innovation is as much about humanity as it is about cutting-edge technology.

The final activity of the EIC Communities project, Future Tech Week 2026, embodied this spirit. Bringing together projects, experts, and stakeholders from across the European deep-tech ecosystem, the event showcased not only technological achievements but also the collaborative energy that drives them. As several participants shared:

“It has been an excellent opportunity for us to give visibility to our project and to prepare for the exciting times ahead.”

Fernando Ruiz – PUSH-CCC project coordinator

FTW is an important forum to discuss technical ideas and perspectives. It provided good insight and fresh viewpoints on the advanced approaches discussed.”

Paolo Fiorini – ROBIOSPY project coordinator

We were pleased to take part in Future Tech Week 2026 with a webinar dedicated to the NanoWings project. We had the opportunity to present the significant technological milestones achieved in the field of wind energy, highlighting the progress and impact of our research and development activities.”

Stefano Linari – NanoWings project coordinator

Being part of FTW26 has been an honour. Sharing top-notch knowledge with the European ecosystem not only encourages collaboration but fosters a healthy environment for technology.”

Yassin Somoue Chafik – iGEM Ambassador for Europe

Looking back, the EIC Communities initiative has been more than a collection of projects; it has shown what is possible when people come together to share ideas, overcome obstacles, and learn from one another. Through storytelling, we unfolded the layers of innovation: the risks, the failures, and the resilience that define deep-tech development.

As the project concludes, these stories remain a reminder that innovation is not just about breakthroughs in labs or prototypes; it is about the people behind the breakthroughs, their collaboration, and their unwavering commitment to making a difference.

Through EIC Communities, distinct projects found a shared stage – a dynamic space where dialogue unlocked synergies, visibility empowered impact, and every milestone contributed to a broader, collective advancement.”

Stefania De Santi – EIC Communities Project Coordinator

The EIC Communities journey may have reached its official end, yet its legacy of collaboration, humanity, and the stories unfolded will continue to play a part in inspiring the European deep-tech ecosystem for years to come.
