SODISCALE

Sodium-based batteries for greener energy storage.

Batteries hold the potential to allow for the much needed transition to renewable energy throughout both the transport and other industries. Unfortunately, despite their potential, battery production not only requires raw materials (in short supply) but leads to large amounts of pollution during the process. The EIC-funded SodiScale project aims to solve this issue by building upon BroadBit’s sodium-based battery technology for cost-efficient batteries made from easier-to-obtain materials. It has also developed a novel, cleaner production process. The success of this project could pave the way for an improved, greener transport industry.
