Simulation tech for 3D virtual models to enhance cardiovascular procedures and reduce complications

Surgical interventions, especially in cardiology, are associated with postoperative complications and are considered high-risk for certain patients. Being able to predict the outcome of such interventions on an individual basis is desirable and would undoubtedly be beneficial for these patients.

Funded by the European Innovation Council, the Confident project introduces a simulation technology that aims to improve the design and implantation of cardiovascular medical devices. The technology enables the construction of 3D virtual models of patients’ anatomy, allowing physicians to simulate procedures and prevent postoperative complications. The technology can be implemented at every procedural stage, and physicians can also design a follow-up plan.
